TAP™ TRANSFER ON COTTON MUSLIN (or similar)    Transfer on Muslin

MATERIALS
Image printed on TRANSFER ARTIST PAPER™ (TAP™)
Regular Household Iron
Cotton Muslin fabric
Parchment paper (Keeps iron clean but optional except for delicate fabrics)

METHOD
1. Trim excess white areas from image.
2. Preheat iron to hottest setting.
3. Place image face down on muslin.
4. Place parchment paper over TAP™ image.
5. Holding the image and parchment securely, set the preheated iron on top of the image.
6. Iron over the entire transfer moving the iron continuously to keep the surface evenly hot.
7. Remove iron, parchment and transfer backing paper.
8. Allow transfer to dry for 2-3 days. Place in mesh bag and wash on delicate cycle in cold water or hand wash. If image on on a garment, turn inside-out before washing.

RESULTS:
1. Perfect transfer, no bleed through.
2. The image transfer stiffens the fabric where it is applied.
3. Allowing the transfer to dry for 2-3 days before washing preserves more of the color and crispness of the image, However in one area where the image was folded during washing and the folded edge rubbed against other surfaces, the ink was removed significantly resulting in a fade line on the fold.
4. It seems that the less the ink is removed by washing, the stiffer the hand of the fabric remains.

Clarification on ironing instructions - For the best transfers, keep TAP™ transfer paper evenly hot by continuously moving your iron across the surface until the transfer is complete. When the transfer process is complete, the paper will peel off easily. There should be no polymer residue left on the paper.

Note: If you plan to wash your transfer, be sure to iron TAP transfer paper completely. There should be no polymer residue left on the paper when the transfer is complete. Unless the fusing process is complete, the image will not withstand washing well.
