Sew What ???

Sewing is not just for fabric anymore. In her efforts to create truly mixed media art and blur the lines between quilts, books and assemblage, Lesley has been stitching anything the sewing machine needle will go through – mica, copper mesh, metal, paper, tyvek, transparencies, and anything else she comes up with between now and class time.
In this process oriented, sewing machine based class, you too will explore the possibilities of sewing non-traditional surfaces. We will create collages incorporating all these new materials with your old favorite – fabric. You will compile a series of small samples of techniques to use as a springboard for all the possibilities that will present themselves to you as you manipulate the materials. These samples will be bound into an accordion folded inspiration and source book.
